WEIRDING THE EVERY DAY

Being alive is really a very strange endeavor. Bizarre coincidences, déjà vu, the fallibility of our own memory and perceptions, and inexplicable, seemingly magical occurrences are perhaps all more commonplace than we have the space to acknowledge while contending with our busy days. Fiction allows us to ramp this strangeness up just a notch, to vibrate on the frequency of the weird without losing the credibility of concrete, everyday existence.

Class Takeaways
In our time together we will read and discuss a variety of short fiction that features fabulism, magical realism, unreliable narrators, trick mirror logic, and more. Through generative prompts we will practice employing these tools ourselves in order to craft our own acutely surreal realities.

Access Program
We want our writing classes and Delves to be accessible to everyone, regardless of income and background. We understand that our tuition structure can present obstacles for some people. Our Access Program offers writing class and Delve tuitions at a reduced rate. Most writing classes have at least one access spot available.

Every in-person class and seminar at Literary Arts has one liaison position. Liaisons perform specific duties for each class meeting. If you are a liaison for a class or seminar, the full amount of your tuition is covered by Literary Arts.
