Truing the Narrative: A Revision Magic Trick

January 10, 2026, Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (one session)
716 SE Grand Ave Portland, OR 97214

$65

Symmetry is nature’s intelligent design: it provides stability, swiftness, and survival. It’s the burst of a dahlia bloom, the flare of a maple leaf, the honeycomb, the butterfly, the human face. It’s our writing, too, whether we’re aware of it or not. In this class, we will look anew at our manuscripts or rough drafts. We’ll locate the symmetries that already exist and expand them, push them to their fullest potentials. We’ll find themes and ideas that are intuitively central to our stories and ask whether they’ve been examined enough. We’ll find meaningful new directions to take our drafts.

Access Program
We want our writing classes to be accessible to everyone, regardless of income and background. We understand that our tuition structure can present obstacles for some people. Our Access Program offers writing class and seminar tuitions at a reduced rate. Most writing classes have at least one access spot available.

Please apply here for access rate tuition. Contact Susan Moore at susan@literary-arts.org if you have questions.

Liaison position
Every in-person class and seminar at Literary Arts has one liaison position. Liaisons perform specific duties for each class meeting. If you are a liaison for a class or seminar, the full amount of your tuition is covered by Literary Arts.

Apply here for the liaison position.
