Youth Spoken Word & Poetry Night @ Po’Shines

cornbred_color_back

Come enjoy some Cornbread every Friday night at Po’shines Cafe De La Soul. Cornbread is of course their newly instituted youth spoken word and poetry reading not the delicious southern style baked good (although I can see where there might be some confusion). Middle and high school students are welcome to come and share their works with their fellow students and community.

Po’shines opened in Portland, Oregon in 2007 and has since established itself as a strong supporter of the local community. Led by volunteers, Po’shines has partnered with the Teach Me to Fish program which provides job training, life and performing arts skills to empower at-risk and troubled youth in our community. In the past, Po’shines has teamed up with Write Around Portland to host an eight week writing workshop.

This is a weekly event. Every Friday night from 8pm-10pm at Po’shines Cafe De La Soul which is located at 8189 N. Denver Ave.
