Poems from the WITS Lounge

We’ll be posting writing that was generated at the WITS Teen Lounge at Wordstock. This poem is by Kay, one of our “teens of all ages” who began with the prompt: Write a poem using the words crocodile, manatee and mermaid.

A mermaid called her friends to tea

the dolphins spread the word

A crocodile and manatee

were two that hadn’t hear.

A fuss was made and feelings hurt

but mermaid’s heart was kind

she asked the octopus to squirt

a message for all time.

The crocodile and manatee

shall be my special guests

whenever I call friends to tea

they’ll come before the rest.
