Writers in the Schools (WITS), a program of Literary Arts, employs professional writers to conduct creative writing workshops in Portland public high schools and several alternative schools. Each year, the program reaches an estimated 3,000 students and their teachers. WITS also provides one-on-one mentorships, visits by local and touring authors, books for school libraries and professional development for teachers and writers.
