Youth and Family Activities at Portland Book Festival

Portland Book Festival celebrates book lovers of all ages! We offer lots of fun-filled family activities, including storytimes, panel discussions, crafts, gift shopping, food vendors, and more. Click here for the full schedule of Festival events.

FREE ADMISSION

Youth 17 & under (or students with a valid high school ID) enjoy free admission to Portland Book Festival! Passes are still required, so register and get free youth passes here.

FAMILY-FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES

In addition to the stage presentations in the Fields Ballroom there will be family-friendly activities and exhibitors, including arts and crafts with Addie Boswell, Carrie Tillotson, Dane Liu, Margaret Chiu Greanias & Tracy Subisak, Linda Letra Bilingual Books, Portland Early Learning Project, and Yuki Origami. Also in the Fields Ballroom find exhibitors such as A Kids Company About, Books With Pictures, Cosmic Monkey Comics, Green Bean Books, and more.

MIDDLE GRADE EVENTS

Free Writing Classes for youth:

The following workshops are free, however registrations is required and class sizes are limited. Workshops are held on Saturday, November 5 on the second floor of Portland Art Museum’s Mark Building.

YOUNG ADULT EVENTS

Festival Admission

A few reminders about festival passes:

  • Youth 17 and under and/or with high school ID get in free; but you do still need a pass as a wristband is required for entry to all stages. Get yours now.
  • Swing by the advance box office at Portland’5 Centers for the Arts’ Antoinette Hatfield Hall (1111 SW Broadway) Tuesday, November 1 through Thursday, November 3 from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. to pick up your wristband and skip the box office line on festival day.
