Slamlandia – May
Slamlandia is a poetry open mic and slam that meets every month at Literary Arts, on the third Thursday. This mic provides a creative, fun, and welcoming space for all literary communities in Portland. We encourage poets new and old to come share their work. We strive towards a safe space for poets to read their own poetry, witness others, and participate in community.
Slamlandia is hosted by Julia Gaskill. The featured poet for May is jared Cetz.
jared Cetz
jared Cetz (any/él/leti’) is a first-gen Maya Mexican writer / rapper / poet from The Numbers, SE Portland & Chunhuhub, QRoo and co-founder of Boca Ardiente. Around una fogata, between the teasing of lovers, under a tear-soaked pillow, beside relatives (both human & non-human), beyond borders, jared’s writing explores the ephemeral, the genealogical, and the intimate—often while sharing cafecito with loved ones. jared holds a BA in Ethnic Studies from Brown University and is currently a member of Portland’s 2026 Slamlandia Team.
