The Weary Blues at 100: Maude Hines and Emmett Wheatfall Discuss Langston Hughes

Sun, February 1 from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm PST

Join us for a special evening honoring the legacy of Langston Hughes and the 100th anniversary of The Weary Blues. Featuring critical commentary by PSU Professor and Chair of Black Studies Maude Hines, and award-winning performance poet Emmett Wheatfall.

This event is free and open to the public.

This event is a precursor to The Weary Blues: Celebrating Langston Hughes and the Harlem Renaissance at Alberta Abbey on February 7th. This off-Broadway-style production brings together some of Portland’s top entertainers for an evening of jazz, performance poetry, and historic visual projections.
