Apple Small Poem
by Jose Manuel Millan Morales from Roosevelt High School
Published in the 2006-2007 WITS Anthology Mostly What I’m Made Of
It looks round with different colors: red, yellow, green, orange.
It smells sweet and sour.
It tastes juicy with lots of flavor.
It sounds really silent, that makes you relax.
It feels pretty hard, hard enough to hurt someone.
I was teaching in Jose’s class when he wrote this poem. To me this poem is like a still-life painting.
