Shivers of fear
Distant cries of pain
Forgotten memories, coming back.
The fathomless thought of the future,
Of any future.
Anguish taking over my body,
Creeping down my back,
With the stabbing sensation of regret following
Closely behind.
The blatant dripping of leaking pipes
Filling my ears
Making them ring.
A wet trail of sadness
Gliding down my cold cheek,
Stinging like the tip of a knife.
Back to me sitting on the cold kitchen floor,
Stuck making this decision
Just making this decision.
I really like the last stanza of this poem– it's vivid, chilling, and completely familiar.
