Writing Prompts for Stay-At-Home Writers: Julia Gaskill

Julia Gaskill (she/her) is a professional daydreamer hailing from Portland. When not running the Slamlandia mic, she can be found exploring the Pacific Northwest. She has competed multiple times on national stages with her poems, and she was the Portland Poetry Slam rep at the Women of the World Poetry Slam in 2018 Dallas, Texas. Her work has been featured on FreezeRay Poetry, Ink&Nebula, Rising Phoenix Review, Voicemail Poems, SlamFind, and Write About Now, and she was the featured artist in the fall issue of the Knight’s Library Magazine.

Julia shared the following prompts:

  • Write in the voice of an item that you use daily in your home
  • Write in the voice of a famous, now dead, person giving you advice
  • If you could undo one thing in your life, what would it be? You could respond as yourself, or as an item in your home, or as a famous dead person!

Tune in Friday for our next writing prompt! Let us know how you’re doing, and how your writing is going, and let us know if you have a prompt to share! Email Susan Moore, Director of Programs for Writers, at susan@literary-arts.org.
