Two dozen Writers in the Schools writers and two WITS apprentices met at the annual WITS orientation on Thursday, September 8th. It was the first in-person WITS orientation in three years. Writers and YP staff met ahead of the upcoming 2022-23 school year to gather in community, learn about programmatic updates, and plan for the year ahead. A WITS partner teacher did a Q&A with writers about tips for the upcoming school year, what makes a great WITS residency from a teacher’s perspective, and how students are doing heading into this school year.
Writers will teach residencies at Benson HS, Gresham HS, Parkrose HS, McDaniel HS, and Ida B. Wells HS in the fall semester.
