The audience for Wilson High School’s WITS reading filled Annie Bloom’s Books to capacity on a chilly Thursday night in January. First, freshmen from Nora Brooks’ English class shared work they produced with WITS writer Joanna Rose, and sophomores from Jamie Suehiro’s English class shared work they produced with WITS writer Amy Minato. Brooks and Suehiro also shared their own writing, as did the WITS writers. Then we fired up the projector and web cam so that freshman from two of Nathan Pier’s Modern World History classes could share their comics, still in process, that they’re working on with WITS writer Lisa Eisenberg. (Click here for our blog post about this exciting collaboration.) In all, 15 students shared their creativity with an audience of 75 peers, parents, siblings, teachers, and others from our community. Thanks so much to Annie Bloom’s for hosting, and to all those who participated in making the reading such an entertaining event. We also want to thank the writers, teachers, and Wilson librarian Linda Campillo, our WITS liaison, for working together to make the residencies a success for Wilson students.
