Nine-Month Novel Intensive: Wednesday

Wednesdays, September 14, 2022 – May 17, 2023 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Pacific Time (class meets 29 times)

$1450

This course for dedicated writers is designed to guide you through the writing and/or revising of your novel. It runs from September through May. You’ll read excerpts from published novels by authors including Han Kang, Tommy Orange, Lina Meruane, Mitchell S. Jackson, Deborah Levy, and Susan Steinberg, as well as craft essays by authors including Dorothy Allison, Jane Alison, and Alexander Chee. Some weeks you’ll have craft assignments to complete outside of class, and other weeks we’ll do in-class exercises together. After the first month of meetings, two students will workshop each week. Each student will have the opportunity to workshop five times, turning in up to 25 double-spaced pages per submission. Students should be prepared to read and comment on up to 50 pages of their classmates’ work each week, in addition to keeping up with their own writing.

Download the syllabus for Nine-month online novel intensive here. Please note: this writing class is designed for adults 18 years and older.

Access Program
We want our writing classes and Delves to be accessible to everyone, regardless of income and background. We understand that our tuition structure can present obstacles for some people. Our Access Program offers writing class and Delve tuitions at a reduced rate. The access program for writing classes covers 60% of the class tuition. Most writing classes have at least one access spot available.

Please apply here for access rate tuition. Contact Susan Moore at susan@literary-arts.org if you have questions.

Refund policy:
If you need to cancel your registration for the 9-month novel class, the following refund schedule applies:

* $95 of the class registration is a non-refundable deposit.
• 3 days or more before a class: tuition, minus the deposit, will be issued.
• 3 days or more before class starts: if you prefer to convert your registration to a credit for an upcoming class, you can receive a tuition credit for an upcoming class for the full amount of your tuition, good for one year.
• 48 hours or less before a class begins: no refund or tuition credit is available.
If Literary Arts has to cancel a class, you will receive a full refund.

Cari Luna’s Nine-Month Novel Intensive Class made all the difference in my writing life. The quality of instruction was incredible, the classroom environment was positive and supportive, and the feedback from my little cohort of fellow workshoppers was invaluable to me as I work toward completing my novel. Thanks for offering this wonderful resource and for making it available online. I would not have had access to it otherwise.” – student
