NW AUTHOR SERIES: SINDYA BHANOO
Oregon Book Award winner Sindya Bhanoo will be appearing in Cannon Beach library as part of their NW Authors Series.
Seeking Fortune Elsewhere features intimate stories of South Indian immigrants and the families they left behind center women’s lives and ask how women both claim and surrender power. Traveling from Pittsburgh to Eastern Washington to Tamil Nadu, these stories about dislocation and dissonance see immigrants and their families confront the costs of leaving and staying, identifying sublime symmetries in lives growing apart.
Presented in partnership with the Cannon Beach library, as part of the Oregon Book Awards Author Tour.
Sindya Bhanoo
Sindya Bhanoo is fiction writer and journalist. Her debut collection Seeking Fortune Elsewhere won the New American Voices Award. In 2021, she won an O. Henry Prize. She has worked for The New York Times and The Washington Post and currently teaches creative writing and journalism at Oregon State University.
