WRITING ANIMALS

October 24 - November 28, 2026, Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (six sessions)

$360

Writing animals in fiction is a complex, rewarding and rejuvenating process. From “Animal Farm” to “Mink River”, several authors have gravitated to the form to deepen empathy in the reader and establish an immersive fictional world. In this six week class, students will work on several in-class writing prompts to develop both writing and research skills to render an animal presence precisely on the page.

Students will receive a detailed booklist with resources and students can plan to complete 8-10 pages of a fictional story draft before the end of the class. An individual office hours meeting with the instructor is also included in the class description. Ideal class for beginning and advanced writers alike.
