We haven’t been ignoring you. We’ve been addressing envelopes!
Yesterday notification letters went out to all applicants for the 2008 Oregon Book Awards. This Monday, September 8, we’ll announce the finalists in a press release and on our web site.
All of this year’s finalists have been invited to read at Wordstock on Sunday, November 9, the day of the Book Awards ceremony.
The winners of the Oregon Book Awards will be announced at the ceremony, and Special Awards recipients Barry Lopez, Marlene Howard, and the Young Writers Association will also be honored.
John Daniel will host the ceremony. Last year’s host, Naomi Shihab Nye, had these words of advice for John:
wear a shiny jacket.
Does John have a shiny jacket? Should we buy him one? Would he wear it if we did?
We’re not sure about the answer to these questions. However, I do know that we will have more information about all of the finalists, and the special awards recipients, in the weeks to come.
Just got the letter myself! It’s a marvelous list of nominees (and now I see my TBR pile will have to get a little taller too!)
